R&B singer Maxwell is back after a hiatus of almost 8 years.
"I didn't intentionally step away from all of it, but I just wanted to live my life a little bit, and then be able to make music with that pure experience again," Maxwell said.
Maxwell's next project is his fourth albumtitled Black Summers' Night. On his MySpace he states that it is a trilogy of albums released over three years, starting in 2009 with Black. A statement on his Twitter page eludes that Black will be released on July 7, 2009. The second album, Summers' coming out in 2010 and the third album Night in 2011.
The single made its world premier on the Tom Joyner Morning Show on April 28, 2009, after the New School/Old School Mix by Steve "Silk" Hurley.
Opening with a delicate hint of wistful chimes, Maxwell's single, Pretty Wings, is nostalgic, ("Your face will be the reason I smile") and yet undeniably passionate. "It's about the last relationship I had," the singer describes. "How you meet the person of your dreams but at the wrong time. She was a serious muse and the song is a testament to what I wanted to say and say, to her."
