Nero Arcus is an aspiring artist from Maplewood, NJ. He is originally from Montego Bay, Jamaica, and came to the United States as a young man interested in pursuing a career in music. He is primarily considered an Island Pop/Dancehall Reggae artist. Nero Arcus creates all of his melodies and has spent considerable time in the studio developing and recording his own songs. In fact, his hard work has afforded him the opportunity to work with Treach from Naughty by Nature. Read below what else this young gunner is about.
Hello Nero Arcus! Before we talk about your music, let us know which city you rep and how the Hip-Hop scene is there?
I rep New Jersey and the Hip-Hop scene is great but we need to get more of our upcoming artist out there with the talent they have, which I see happening more now. I love to see people stride in working hard to make their talent known as do I.
What was the moment that you knew music was your dream?
When I was 13 singing in church I knew this is what I wanted to do. I came to the United States and began to achieve that dream.
How did the environment you grew up in influence your music?
Growing up in Jamaica was a big struggle. My family didn’t have much and the best way to help me get through my days were by singing. As a young child who ate sometimes out of a trash can you have to find some ways to forget about the struggle by making music.
Where do you get your influences from when crafting music in general?
I get my inspiration from everything and everyone that is around me. But the deepest way for me to make music is my imagination.
So Nero Arcus is your rap moniker, how did you come up with that name?
I needed a name that was powerful! Nero is an Emperor who was the cause of Rome to burn, and Arcus means “Fire”.
For those who are not familiar with you yet, how would you describe your sound?
I’m an Island Pop/Reggae/Dancehall artist that combines all these elements to create my own sound.
What would you say sets you apart from other up-n-coming rappers or groups in the game at the moment?
My sound and my versatile music sets me apart from out of a trash can you have to find some ways to forget about the struggle by making music.
What do you bring to the table that hasn’t been heard and seen before?
The different elements of my sound and ability to create multiple genre of music together to make my own music.
What project are you currently working on?
I am working on my album called “Island Fever” and my new single called “ Wasn’t me” that released on the Nation DRT Chart and hit #89.
What is your label situation looking like?
For right now a couple of labels are interested in my work.
Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
Be very successful in my music and have my own business. Also giving back to the communities in the United States and Jamaica giving to the needy.connect
