It looks like Machine Gun Kelly is rekindling old animosities with the Shady Records emcee.
MGK and Yelawolf have certainly had their spates of beefing in the past. At last year’s BET Awards, Yelawolf slipped what appeared to be an MGK diss into the Shady 2.0 Cypher, causing speculation as to the extent of the beef.
MGK chose to renew the beef recently, taking a shot at Yela whilst being interviewed by MTV News. When asked about his attitude towards comparisons with the Alabama MC, MGK mocking referred to him as an “old man,” saying that he had to respect him because he was his elder.
“I love him, man,” MGK joked. “You gotta respect your elders, and he's an old man so I gotta give it up. I respect all grandpas around the world doin' it big. Salute.”
MGK has taken the beef on a different route than previously. When Catfish Billy dropped the initial cypher lyric at the BETs, Machine Gun was anxious to downplay the significance of the lyrics. However, Yelawolf seemed sincere about his diss at the time, following up the BET Cypher with a far from flattering interview comment.
“It's probably the most insulting thing on the planet, to be asked to sign a Machine Gun Kelly autograph,” he said.
