50 Cent recently revealed a few interesting facts about his forthcoming album, 5 (Murder By Numbers).
In an interview with WGCI Coke Lounge in Chicago, Fif explained that the album takes quite a different approach to his previous work. The drop will see 50 including what he referred to as a number of “oddball features,” and will, overall, have a “different energy.”
The G-Unit captain also revealed that, should his current plans for the album fail, he has a contingency plan ready and waiting.
“It’s exciting because I wanted to do something that had a different energy to it,” 50 Cent said. “Creatively, I kinda created a new little thing to do musically with myself. It’s like oddball features. It’s not exactly what you would expect immediately from me so it’ll be interesting. I’m kinda testing it because I have a Plan B back at the crib. I recorded so many records.”
Fif went on to speak about the process by which he picks tracks for the final album cut.
“About 30 songs,” he said, describing his album selection methods. “Before I put out 12 records it’s about 30 records laying there. I pick the better ones of everything that I’ve done. I kinda repeat myself a little bit. Like I make song [that’s] a street record and I go, ‘Which one of these records is the best street record that I made?’”
