Nas has reportedly started working on his next solo studio album with some help from Bangladesh. According to the producer, the material that they are cooking up has more “aggression” than the typical-Nasir fare and will help the New York lyricist reach more listeners.
“I’m a super Nas fan. I’ve been a Nas fan since he came out. Since the first song,” said Bangladesh to SOHH.com. “With me being a producer and me having my sound, I would like to hear him on harder beats, more 808-driven, just more aggression.”
“I think he’s a great songwriter but sometimes his beats aren’t as good as his songs. I want to bring an element where it’s more aggressive, more heavy, something that’s going to pay more attention to Nas in an area where he doesn’t get looked at a lot.”
Talking about his forthcoming project, Nas said it will be “one of the most important records” of his life.
“I love the state of the game. I love it man…It’s gonna be magic,” said Nas while being interviewed by Tim Westwood. “That’s all I feel. I feel a magic thing happening and brewing. I keep calling it a magic moment, that’s what its gonna be.”
The emcee released Distant Relatives, a collaborative album with Damian Marley, earlier this year. The LP sold 57,000 copies in its first week and debuted at number five on the Billboard 200 chart.
