Shortly after the release of his sophomore album, Love vs. Money, in 2009 R&B singer The-Dream started warning fans that he planned to retire soon. Now with his third album's release date nearing, he has once again brought up the retirement talk, and says that he would like this upcoming album to be his last.
While talking to MTV News recently, Dream likened the looming departure to that of Michael Jordan leaving the NBA, and admitted that although he may want to leave, there may be other projects he will be working on in the future.
"You don't retire on top," he said. "[Michael] Jordan didn't retire on top. I'm not saying I'm the best [like him], but I'm the best at what I can do. And I can stop now and say, 'This album is pretty good.'"
Even though it's been a little over twelve months since his last release, a lot has happened with the R&B crooner. Just last August, he was named the new Executive Vice President of Island Def Jam, and in the fall he married pop singer/actress Christina Milian.
The title track and first single, Love King, was released in February, and the album is expected to hit stores this spring on May 17.
