Since his release from jail earlier this year, DMX has gone on a series of rants about various things, from Jay-Z to his beef with police during a concert. Now, the dominant 90's rapper is going in on the record industry as a whole and its shady ways.
A Tribe Called Quest broke the industry's crooked ways down with their industry rule # 4080, but newcomers, young and old, continue to flock to the world of entertainment as a perceived means of upward mobility.
If getting rich is their motivation, says DMX, they're better off in a different field because "the highest paid artists gets 26 cents off a dollar."
"They sell your sh*t for $20," X grunted. "C'mon dawg, you can do a little better than that."
The rapper went on to reveal that even after the skimpy earnings, he still isn't allowed to use his own music without permission from the label.
During the height of his popularity, X was featured as a main character in the highly successful video game Def Jam Vendetta.
Although he says they sell the games for $50 a piece, X says he still continues to get the shaft in that arena as well.
"They sell a game for 50 fucking dollars. These niggas come to me like 'Yo, guess what X? We're gonna do a part 2 now.' Mind you, they use my music throughout the whole f*cking game and I'm the hardest character to get to. So it's pretty much my sh*t. They say they're going to give me a $25,000 advance signing bonus and 2 cents off of every game sold. $50 fucking game and you're giving me 2 cents?"
Aside from his issues, X is still said to be working on a new album with Swizz Beatz.
