Just when the media thought they'd witnessed the last of rap's erroneous final bows (Jay-Z's multiple "final cuts" and Cudi's brief stint), Lupe Fiasco gives the industry a bit more of his time, deciding to hold off on his pre-retirement album LupEND indefinitely. Instead, Lupe decided to give details on the upcoming Lasers album he plans to release later in the year.
Lupe plans to go out of the norm in the production of this album, attempting to try different sounds and styles in creating music. "I feel like, 'cause of my first two albums, that now I have the foundation to just branch off and just do not really crazy [music] or whatever I want, but just make music outside of who I normally make music for," said Lupe about his upcoming project. "I feel like I have my true fans, my hardcore fans down, locked down, and now I can kinda experiment with other types of music and it's really good. It's my favorite album thus far."
The emcee known for his hit single Kick, Push, although being Grammy-nominated, wants to be able to show his musical growth to the rap audience - the aim is to raise the bar for all that is hip-hop. Doing so with familiar scenarios is the concept for the album. "Lasers ...comes from some repressed high school outcast sh*t...blended amidst 'And He Gets The Girl' ambitions," Lupe stated via Twitter.
Additional information on Lasers has not yet been reported. Soundtrakk is said to be in charge of production operations.
