Rapper Beanie Sigel was arrested early Sunday morning (August 16) by New Jersey State police and charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana.
Sigel and two of his associates where stopped by police while on their way to perform at Kelly's Lounge in Wrightstown, NJ. Police have received numerous complaints about the bar from local residents and it has also been the scene of several fights and at least one shooting.
Sigel himself is no stranger to the law having served time in a federal prison on weapons and drug charges. The Philadelphia rapper was also acquitted on attempted murder charges following a shooting outside a West Philly nightclub in 2005. Beans was originally signed to Roc-A-Fella in 1998 and released his debut album The Truth, in 1999. He has since released 3 more studio albums all on Roc-A-Fella.
The Philly rapper is currently promoting his new album Broad Street Bully, which will be released independently in September. Sigel also has plans to record an album with former Roc-A-Fella and current Cash Money artist Freeway.
