Def Jam has plans to keep their hand in Jay-Z's Blueprint pocket by repackaging the first two albums in the series for release on the same day as his Blueprint 3.
After 12 years on the label, Jay bought out his contract and decided to distribute BP3 through Atlantic Records.
In an apparent effort to capitalize on the rapper's buzz and push his overall catalog scans with the label, Def Jam has decided to package Jay's Blueprint 1 and Blueprint 2 in one unit called The Blueprint Collection.
According to reports, the collection will be offered for sale at a discounted price and will include a collector's item poster.
Both albums are due in stores on September 11.
In other Jay-Z news, the rapper made headlines yesterday for his comments about The Game and recent lyrical assaults made upon his character and work.
"I think he's been posturing for this thing for a while," Jay told radio personality Big Boy. "I guess he just took the fact that I said I'm not talking about him which is not a diss at all. I figured that was his opportunity, he's going on tour and he's promoting, or buzz or marketing or however people feel they need attention these days. So it's no real problems behind it, it's no real challenge behind it. With the Nas thing, that was a real thing, it wasn't done because of any marketing or anything like that. I typically let those types of things slide but you know, I could wake up tomorrow and just really go right in."
