Fashionable singer Rihanna may be facing charges after she was caught by photographers giving friends tattoos in New York.

According to reports, Rihanna was spotted holding a tattooing needing while in Manhattan's East Side Ink on Wednesday (June 30) night.

The singer had been trying her hand at giving three artists umbrella tattoos with the letter "r," says TMZ.

Despite her newfound enthusiasm for ink, local authorities told the website that Rihanna could be facing charges over the incident because tattooists need a license to practice the craft in New York.

Rihanna is now facing three misdemeanor offenses and could be fined up to $2,000.

"Only licensed tattoo artists can administer tattoos in the city according to the City's Health Code," a New York City Health Department Spokesperson said. "We are sending someone down to follow up on this."
