Calling all hip hop practitioners, it's that time again! While most of us are stretching one check to the next to survive the stressing of the recession at least one rapper isn't strapped for cash. Florida representative Plies has hit the road and I don't know much about the songs, but needless to say the performance did not disappoint.
Plies proceeded to get his weatherman swag on strong as he managed to make it rain at a recent show. Recently we've seen a shortage of the one time trendy affair of throwing money around like confetti due to the poor economy. Perhaps Plies missed the memo, or maybe it simply wasn't applicable to his personal finances. The Atlantic Records star performed before a crowd of 22,000 fans at the 107.9 FM Birthday Bash at Phillips Arena. Per the rapper's publicist, he entered the stage with a duffle bag containing $50,000. Most duffle bag boys go and get their money not treat it so careless, but hey when you're a rapper reckless sometimes becomes a natural state of mind after all it's the good life right?
Plies was joined by a reported 50 models donning Becky t-shirts, the rapper relieved himself of the money, throwing it into the audience. The act was in promotion of his new single Plenty Money. The Drumma Boy-produced single is said to be the last from 2008's Da REAList, before he unveils his Goon Affiliated project, due later this year on Atlantic.
One thing about it, I'm certain that the patrons of the show were only too excited to gather a quick gwop. The funny thing is due to the recession it makes me wonder if the crowd grabbed up the cash to run and purchase Plies'album, or went and paid the electric bill? At any rate if Plies continues to toss out large lump sums two things are certain; first I'll be at the next show and second he'll have to change the name of his next single to Penny Money.
